Frequently Asked Questions

When will ticket sales begin, and how can they be purchased?
Tickets will go on sale April 1, 2019. You will be able to purchase tickets online or by mail.

Is there onsite parking or is it possible to ride-share (Uber or Lyft) to the venue?
No – the venue is a home on a narrow private road, incapable of safely and efficiently handling a large flow of traffic, with no onsite or street parking available. Transportation will be provided and guests are asked to park in West Valley College parking Lot 1 via Allendale Avenue and Theater Way in Saratoga to access shuttle service to the venue.

What time does shuttle service run?
The morning shuttle service will run from 9:45am – 11:00am, while afternoon service will be provided from 1:30pm – 3:00pm. A shuttle will remain onsite, at the venue, in case of emergency.

What is the Marketplace?
The Marketplace consists of a high-end selection of jewelry, art, and fashion vendors for your shopping pleasure, and a portion of all sales will be donated to RRAD. The Marketplace is open from 10am – 12 noon, closed temporarily during the seated program, and will reopen until 2:45pm.

Is this a “seated” luncheon?
No, as the venue warrants, luncheon menu items will be passed and served buffet-style, to allow guests to stroll the gardens, visit with friends, and enjoy a lovely Spring menu. Reserved tables will not be provided, however there will be tables and chairs throughout the garden to sit and enjoy a sip and a bite, whilst strolling. Theater-style seating, under the shade of a canopy, will be provided for all guests during the speaker’s program.

What style of shoes do you recommend?
As this spectacular garden meanders from grass to steps to patios, we strongly encourage guests to wear flat or low-heeled shoes.

Is the venue manageable for physically disabled guests?
Certain areas of the garden may be challenging to navigate, however everyone is welcome and accommodations will be made, to the best of our ability! Please phone 408-494-9217 or email us to leave a message with your concern and a callback number so that we can discuss your needs.

What organization is the beneficiary of this event?
Proceeds from A Day in the Garden with Friends, will benefit the Respite and Research for Alzheimer’s Disease Center (RRAD), a valuable community resource for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. Monies raised will be specifically earmarked to expand RRAD facilities and programs, which currently serve up to 90 clients per day, in addition to raising awareness and providing education about Alzheimer’s.

Who is the program speaker?
The keynote speaker is Elizabeth Gelfand Stearns, a co-producer of the highly acclaimed movie, “Still Alice”, starring Julianne Moore, which has brought global attention and awareness to Alzheimer’s disease. Ms. Stearns, is a former Universal Studios executive and a tireless advocate for national policies to fight Alzheimer’s. She is also the chairwoman of The Judy Fund (named for her mother), which has raised over $8 million in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.
